Speccy lives forever!
I was an active member of various Spectrum clubs in Hungary
and in Russia. One should never forget the first love, right?
Here's one of my fovourite code sequences...
LD L,A
ADD A,A
SBC A,A
LD H,A
(and you have the signed extension of A in HL)
Let's port Linux to Z80 now! ;-)

wow!
that's some emulator!
I never got it working verry well on my cyrix, but the short
time I had it running, I was quite impressed by it.
Now, for the curah speech box, I was looking at you're pictures,
and I found a picture of this little speech thingy. wondering
if mine was the same, I dug out my speech synth for the speccy
and it says DK tronix on the front, is this curah compattible?
just curious, never used it yet, although I plan to when I can
find out.
ahh, the memories of the speccy live on in my proud collection
of machines. not just speccy, c64s, and a rather old cpc464
that's seen better days but it works when I need it. oh, a
good old woodern fronted atari 2600 I've got is still working
fine after years of being stuffed up in the attic, I was
supprised on that one.
oh, when I said the emulator wouldn't run verry well, it was
SuSE linux that was the problem, it took me 4 days to get it
working bug free, but I don't really feel confortable with it.
I'm back to windows and x128 thumbs up on you're emulator
though, nice work!

XZX is the only good and working Spectrum emulator I have come across for
Linux, but I do find it a bit of a rip asking $25 for a complete version for
an operating system that is freeware and non profit making.

How often do you spent more money without ever thinking about it?
It's up to you to set priorities!

I do set my priorities right. I have better things to spend my money on than
a Spectrum Emulator.

I dont spose u could just compile your ZxLink on a win32? could you plz? :)
itd be much apreciated, as im unable to get linux up and running. :/
Also, im intrested because im thinking about hacking a specy to bits, and
recostructing it, into a nice portable model, using a composite LCD screen
using the outputs pre-rf converter. this should be runnable off a few 9V
batteries. Hence itd be nice to be able to link it up to a pc, download some
games into a battery backup eeprom and then switch them into the speccy ram,
rather than actually having the fun of having to load them in. All input on
this project would be appreciated.

Just surfing ... I had several spectrums during my childhood as they kept
breaking down. I would be very happy if you could tell me of any
downloadable spectrum games. (jetset willy.. jetpac.. hunchback) available
on the net. Thank you

Former Crash Tech editor here and ex-contributor to most Spectrum mags,
now writing about emulators for the non-Spectrum ones.
XZX will feature in Linux Format's roundup of 14 ways to run Spectrum
software on Linux. This will be in the May 2001 issue of the mag,
which is published by Future in the UK and available in Europe
and the USA and by subscription elsewhere.
Good work!

I have enjoyed so much with recalling old memories of my computing life
which begun with an old friend spectrum +2. Especially it is such a
pleasure to find a web page dedicated for the emulation of the memories of
still living hardware inside our hearts:)
Thanx to whom involed in preparing such a work to invoke my hidden old
pal.

Hello from Russia!
I used to have some Speccy models (ZX Spectrum 48k, ZX Spectrum 128k
w/TR-DOS, Scorpion ZS-256k turbo+, Pentagon 512k) in my past, & I still
love it.
Suddenly seen a man in a black t-shirt with words "Cracked by Bill Gilbert"
on its back side. Damn, I was in such a nostalgie then...

Why don't you write a history of XZX? With all version numbers and release
dates, plus major changes between releases. It would be a nice thing to
browse...
I would know xzx-x.y.z requires OpenMotif?!?! Plus OpenMotif is not free on
commercial UNICSes...
Any plans for using one of the free alternatives LessTif/QT/GTK in the
future?
From memory I remember using 2.1.3 2.2.0 2.9.1 and possibly other releases;
now I tried XZX-Pro 4.0 and I must say I like the 2.2.0/2.9.1 better
(especially the interface) that's why I still use those. So thanks for the
2.2.0/2.9.1 ones.
Also I would be nice if you would get a sponsor and make all the code Open
Source. In Eastern Europe 25$ MEANS money!
However, keep up the good work!
anonymvs
It's all in the ChangeLog. XZX-Pro doesn't require OpenMotif. Any Motif
(2.1 or newer) or LessTif (if it will ever get 2.1 compatible) will
work. No, I don't plan to use a different widget set. Motif is available
on most (if not any) commercial UNIX system.

I'd never heard of a Spectrum before... probably surprising since I've been
playing video games on dozens of systems for over 20 years... Very
interesting stuff.

Wow! That was great. I have used Speccy for about 6 years (1991-1997).
And now I feel some exitement and nostalgie about it. It is a great project,
that keeps Speccy alive. Thanks!

Habe diese Seite über World Of Spectrum entdeckt!
sonstige Peripherie, Software & Joysticks.

Like your musuem. I am very envious of your ZX-80! First computer I ever
used, still live and kicking in my father's house. 8-)
Keep up the good work. I have a 'retro-tech' collection, my favourite
Sinclair item is my 48k rubber key, and the 3.5" Opus discdrive!

I still have the original thing (zx 81 48k) and I would like to obtain the
original programs on tape. Since I cannot find enyone who has those, I
thought that perhapse there are someone the net in the form of wave or mp3.
If you know of any site (or any person for that matter) that contains (or
has) stuff like that, I`d be most gratefull if you would let me know.

People think that the best games are with good graph and sound. What about
TirNaNog, DunDarach and Marsport? Hell those were the best years of my life,
and I'm glad to see my precious Speccy still living. I'm still having the
rubber one, but can't find any tapes.
